The
Aravalli Hill Ride –
(For Medium Riders – 90 Km Ride)
Itinerary:

Day 1
|
Arr. Ex Jodhpur (3 hrs drive)
or ex Udaipur (3 hrs) at Kotri for Lunch
PM: Try out horses. Ride out to visit the 7th cent.
Archaeological site, and return via open county, through volcanic
outcrops.
O/N Kotri Raola. (A 200yr old Castle with modern amenities.
The owner – Th. Mahendra Singh will be your host)

Day 2:
|
AM: Ride out past open farmland,
visiting a Marwari House Stud Farm en route to the rocky hills
of Narlai. (This is a 3 hr ride) Lunch.
PM: Leisure at Narlai, Climb the Rock of Narad, &
visit the many temples in the village.
O/N Narlai Rawla (a Classic Heritage Hotel of The Ajit
Bhawan Group of Hotels)

Day 3
|
AM: Ride out past farms
and lakes, you see the colourful shepherds with their sheep,
the farmers working the fields. (Your riding escort will all
the while be answering your queries on the traditions and
customs of Rajasthan.) You will soon arrive at the Muthana
bird lake. (3 hr ride) Here we stop for refreshments and watch
the migratory birds of Rajasthan. Another hour and a half
skirting the merchant town of Sadri brings us to Maharani
Bagh. Lunch.Option: Drive to Maharani Bagh visit
temples and return to Narlai.OR
PM: Visit the Famous 15th cent. Ranakpur
Jain Temples by Jeep (4 Km away)
O/N Maharani Bagh. (This is a cottage resort of the
Welcomheritage Group)
/Or return to Rawla Narlai. |

Day 4
|
AM: Ride past farms
towards the Aravalli
foothills, through scrubland in the periphery of the Wildlife
preserve to Ghanerao (2 hr ride). After refreshments we
continue past tribal villages to Thandi veri crocodile dam and
after a short halt we ride up the steep trail climbing 2000 ft
to Kumbhalgarh.Lunch at "The Aodhi Hotel".
PM: Visit the unconquered Kumbhalgarh Fort, with it’s
huge bastions, 9 gates, and 36 Km of unbroken 20 ft thick
wall. (circa 15th cent)
O/N The Aodhi Hotel. (a property of the HRH Group of
Hotels)

Day 5:
|
AM: Depart for Deogarh and
O/N Deogarh Mahal- a heritage hotel recommended by
Tatler as one of the best small hotels in the world. |
(NB: On Day 4 If the clients are not experienced enough, as riders
they may have to be taken up to Kumbhalgarh by jeep. This decision
will be taken by your Riding Escort.)
